Hash House a Go Go Plaza Location

go go hash house

It's rare to find a chain restaurant that has tens of thousands of 5-star ratings all over the U.S. Yet, Hash House A Go Go has been wowing customers and making them happy for over two decades. If you haven't heard of this chain before, it's probably because there are only a few open around the country. However, if you ever come across one, don't hesitate to stop in for brunch or dinner.

Despite being a Midwestern-inspired restaurant, there aren't any Hash House A Go Go locations in the Midwest yet. Most are in California, Nevada, Florida, and the East Coast for now. Enjoy twisted farm food and crafted cocktails at the world famous Hash House A Go Go. We've been bringing you Midwest inspired food for over two decades. Since mid-March, TikTok has spent $5 million on TV ads opposing the legislation, according to AdImpact, an advertising tracking firm.

GRILLED SALMON

As a proud part of our local community, we strive to be a positive force in our neighborhoods. We support lots of charitable causes and are always open to new community programs. When the restaurant reopened, inspectors gave it no demerits and a grade of A during the reinspection.

Welcome to Hash House A Go Go LINQ

His administration brokered a deal that would have had U.S. corporations Oracle and Walmart take a large stake in TikTok. The sale never went through for a number of reasons; one was China, which imposed stricter export controls on its technology providers. Members of both parties, along with intelligence officials, have worried that Chinese authorities could force ByteDance to hand over American user data or direct the company to suppress or boost TikTok content favorable to its interests. TikTok has denied assertions that it could be used as a tool of the Chinese government and has said it has not shared U.S. user data with Chinese authorities.

But the ferocity of the pushback angered lawmakers on Capitol Hill, where there is broad concern about Chinese threats to the U.S. and where few members use the platform themselves. In December 2020, when a lot of people were still staying out of restaurants as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hash House A Go Go decided to try out the food truck restaurant model in Las Vegas. Its food truck was called Hash House 2 Go Go, and it had a much narrower menu offering than the full-fledged restaurant.

For some, TikTok is a path to riches and the American dream. With a ban, it could all disappear

If you order a Big O' Turkey Pot Pie during the Thanksgiving season, it comes turned on its side with the pie filling poured out on the plate like a cornucopia. Hash House A Go Go was founded by Andy Beardslee and Johnny Rivera all the way back in 2000. While Beardslee grew up in Indiana, Rivera is from sunny California.

The ads have included a diverse group of content creators, including a nun, extolling the positive impacts of the platform on their lives and arguing a ban would trample on the 1st Amendment. The company has also encouraged its users to contact Congress, and some lawmakers have received profanity-laced calls. When Hash House A Go Go first opened in 2000, it didn't have a liquor license, so it focused on creating spectacular non-alcoholic beverages. Once it got its liquor license, it opened up the Tractor Bar, so it could offer over-the-top alcoholic beverages as well. You can also get a non-alcoholic Kiwi Watermelon Lemonade which has layers of green, white, and red like a watermelon and comes with a slice of the fruit.

So, the food truck seems to be Hash House A No Go for now. It represents our commitment to providing a unique dining experience with a playful twist on traditional dishes. Introducing Hash House A Go Go's dynamic destination at The LINQ! Step into a world of culinary creativity where classic comfort meets a modern twist. Indulge in our signature tractor-sized pancakes, twisted farm favorites, and one-of-a-kind Sage Fried Chicken Benedict, all amidst the vibrant energy of The LINQ.

HH FAMOUS ‘TWISTED’ FLAPJACKS

Unfortunately, one in Moorestown, New Jersey, closed at the end of 2023, leaving customers sad to see it go. Customers were especially disappointed after the restaurant decided not to renew its liquor license when it finally reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. Former customers on Facebook mentioned that a lot of the stores in the mall where it had been located had been closing down recently and that they would often visit to find it fairly empty at lunch. There have been so few Hash House A Go Go locations added over the years that it's a big deal when new ones open or old ones close. The numbers balanced again in 2023 with one opening in Florida while another closed in New Jersey. Winter Garden, Florida got its first Hash House a Go Go in May of 2023.

The restaurant has maintained an inspection grade of A ever since its 2019 temporary closure. While it has received a handful of demerits here and there since then (like most restaurants), none have been related to cockroaches. We support multiple charitable causes and are always open to new community programs.

However, owner Johnny Rivera had a different vision for what brunch could become. He wanted it to be a meal in itself, telling San Diego Magazine that "[b]runch was recovery from the night before, and it was a sense of redemption the next day, where you could revitalize yourself." TikTok has lobbied hard against the legislation, pushing the app’s 170 million U.S. users — many of whom are young — to call Congress and voice opposition.

There were some sanitary issues related to handwashing and not washing fruits and vegetables. Plus, the restaurant was keeping meat out at temperatures that were too warm. Since cockroaches can be tenacious, the restaurant had to call in some professionals to help get rid of the infestation and close up places where other vermin could get into the building. Hash House A Go Go has hosted events for health causes like prostate and breast cancer, AIDS, and MS, as well as events to help children such as Stop Hunger for Children and Young Inner City Entrepreneur Programs. Its community events reach beyond people to helping programs like the Wildlife Fund.

The restaurant also only gives you water if you ask for it to avoid being wasteful (not uncommon in California during water shortages). It's also farm-conscious and strives to use non-GMO foods in its meals. For example, Andy's World Famous Fried Chicken Waffle Tower comes stacked sky-high with two pieces of fried chicken and a big knife stuck in the top.

However, if you don't leave any room, you can always make a special trip back to the restaurant just to experience the desserts. If you haven't heard of Hash House A Go Go yet, you're missing out on a spectacular place to get breakfast. It's the quintessential American brunch restaurant, featuring jaw-droppingly outrageous dishes you'll feel compelled to post on social media. Not only are the dishes visually stunning, but they'll make your mouth happy, too.

It manages to combine a B.L.T. sandwich and a spicy Bloody Mary drink all in one by sticking bacon, lettuce, and tomato in the drink with a side of toast and mayo. When Hash House A Go Go started as a brunch restaurant in 2000, brunch wasn't as big as it is now. Chefs like Anthony Bourdain hated making brunch because they thought it was a "horrible, cynical way of unloading leftovers and charging three times as much as you ordinarily charge for breakfast" (via The Oregonian).

KITCHEN STUDIO L A. Manufacturers of Custom Kitchen Cabinets

design kitchens

Though everyone's needs may differ, the kitchen often functions as the heart of the home, where friends and family can gather to share meals, stories, or even just a glass of wine. Utilize your cabinets to their fullest potential by making the inside of the cabinet door your go-to spot for resources, recipes, and reminders. Print and hang phone numbers, grocery lists, calendars, and more in a common area where everyone in the house will know where to find them. Integrate the latest in smart home technology to control lighting, temperature and even cooking from your smartphone or voice commands, ensuring a high-tech, hands-free cooking experience. Underfloor heating provides comfort and luxury, especially in colder climates. It also allows for the freedom of wall space without the need for wall radiators or baseboard heating.

Cabinet-to Ceiling Marble

'A breakfast cupboard or coffee station is also useful, as it can be used to store all the things you need in one place, including cups, coffee machine and biscuits. Bi-fold doors make it easy to access the contents of the cupboard, while the space below could be used to include an integrated fridge drawer to store milk, ready to hand. 'Ensure you precisely measure your floor so that an island will fit comfortably within your space. When placed in the center it should leave enough floor space for you to maneuver around and access the rest of the kitchen. Designing a kitchen isn't just about working out a kitchen layout that fits the space – kitchen planning needs to run around how you use the room, too.

Concrete backsplash and countertops

This bright shade of orange contrasts dark wood countertops and a shiny white tile backsplash. And contrary to what you might think, orange pairs well with many colors. White is a large part of the color story in this L A R K + P A L M modern kitchen design. What helps set it apart is a fresh, midcentury-inspired island—with lots of space underneath—that doubles as a high-top table. The black-and-white bamboo nods to a laid-back coastal vibe, while blue sconces infuse a touch of color. The six basic kitchen designs include the one-wall, galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, G-shaped, and island kitchens.

Work out what kitchen storage you need

At Naked Kitchens there’s a choice of working with the company to design a kitchen, or providing plans. Solid timber designs are the company’s heritage, and most of today’s kitchens have an element of oak or walnut. Clients can select the carcass to be made from an oak or walnut veneered ply or an oak/walnut effect material depending on budget.

The 2024 Cove kitchen has a grey hued marbled countertop and slopes down to create a streamlined aesthetic. It will be available to buy after this year's iteration of the annual Milan design week. Made from mouldable materials including Corian and wood, the 2024 Cove kitchen has a sleek, sinuous shape. Based at 16th century Cotes Mill in Leicestershire, the company has three further showrooms, two in London and one in New York City where designers can create kitchens for homes across the US. To guide your quest for a professional as well as inspire we’ve put together a selection of the best kitchen designers in the UK, including some who design in the US, too. Use the grid merely as a starting point that you can modify to suit your space.

Choose pendants with exposed bulbs or sleek black pendants for a contemporary look that still feels warm and inviting. To give air to the compact kitchen of a South Carolina river house, designer Heather Chadduck painted the lower cabinets in a cheerful light blue while keeping the uppers the same color as the walls. The deep blue of this newly renovated Ontario farmhouse kitchen takes inspiration from “the rich colors and handsome millwork of British farmhouse kitchens,” says homeowner Andraya Frith. Featuring custom peg rail and cabinetry by Bloomsbury Fine Cabinetry, the peg rail–lined shelves are the ideal spot to hang evergreen branches during the holiday season.

Design , Built & Remodeling in Heart of the valley

Take a note from designer Reena Ravi's studio kitchen, and put in a library ladder. The brass rail curves around the outside of the cabinetry, so this one can roll out of the way when it's not in use. As the most-used room in the house, your kitchen handles everything from breakfast to late-night snacks, and it always seems to be the place people congregate during parties. However, if it's on the dated side or you simply don't love the finishes, you're probably not enjoying the time you spend in there as much as you could. Kitchens are kind of our thing, so we've gathered the best kitchen ideas from designers to help you imagine and plan your perfect space. One of the easiest ways to add color to a kitchen is through the backsplash.

The whitewashed pine lining the walls fuses perfectly with the bright blue cabinetry for a modern twist on coastal cottage style. Rustic wood beams installed along the walls of this farmhouse kitchen provide a worn, lived-in look. This can double as a workplace for all your kitchen creations and a gathering place for a sit-down family dinner. This kitchen's geometric green backsplash plays off the foliage showcased outside a wall of windows. Statement lighting and bright white walls open up to a sunroom, letting natural light flood the contemporary kitchen.

The great big picture windows in her Minnesota kitchen required Wit & Delight founder Kate Arends to sacrifice wall space, which ended up being worth it for the natural light and forest views. To make up for the lack of wall space, Arends optimized the lower cabinets by making them extra deep and hung pots and pans from the dropdown ceiling. Garrow Kedigian chose Soft Chinchilla by Benjamin Moore to give the kitchen cabinets in this Upper East Side apartment a light, cheerful energy. "I always like my kitchens to feel like rooms and not utilitarian spaces, so I always encourage my clients to paint their kitchens with a lively color," Kedigian says.

When mixing patterns, use a similar color palette and mix large-scale patterns with smaller motifs, so the eye is not overwhelmed. In small kitchens, storage is key but getting it right can be a bit of a challenge. Karen Emile of Milk and Honey Life uses a rod and S-hook system to hang her most-used utensils from measuring cups to a potholder. The best way to feel confident making decisions about appliances and backsplashes is to study up. Keep scrolling for 65 (yes, 65!) of our best kitchen ideas that will inspire your next renovation. Whether you're an experienced chef or rarely go beyond microwaving ramen noodles, your kitchen is an integral part of your space.

Offers custom kitchen design and custom cabinets for kitchens, bathrooms, and custom closet installations. Provides kitchen design services to Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Malibu. Colleen Dowd Saglimbeni of CDS interiors knew every square inch counted in this floating home in Sausalito, California.

Creamy white cabinets and natural wood refresh this light and bright modern kitchen. An ocean-blue backsplash breaks up the neutral colors and provides a focal point that will leave you dreaming of a day at the beach. Midcentury-inspired pendant lighting and wood bar stools add a retro element to the space.

As the name reveals, the company was created by the founders of bespoke kitchen company Plain English, and the cabinets are made by the same team of craftspeople in Suffolk, and designed to last a lifetime. There is a range of standard sizes and the modular pieces work together in multiple configurations. They’re delivered to a home ready-made and painted off-white and can then either be installed by a contractor or on a DIY basis, and painted. The pared-back design of the cabinets ensures they can complement different interiors, including rural and urban, and old homes or new. Get the best of both worlds by incorporating warm wood tones as Ashley Webb Interiors did in this space. Marbled backsplash and countertops tie the room together, and the use of different textures creates visual interest while maintaining a fresh, clean feeling.

She coated the hardware-free cabinetry in reflective white lacquer and used white plaster paint on the backsplash, which looks unfussy and isn't too precious. Hannah Tyler Designs knows that a high-contrast space never goes out of style. In this black and white kitchen, the matte black hood takes center stage while the white tile and cabinetry bring a little brightness to the room. Whitewashed wood cabinets lend warmth to this Scandi-inspired space, subbing in for stark white cabinetry.

This midcentury modern kitchen features natural materials that warm up black base cabinets gilded with Art Deco knobs. The ceiling features preserved tongue-and-groove wood, and the open shelves are magnolia. Complete with potted plants and ample natural light, this kitchen has a warm and cozy feel while nodding to the past. While some are moving away from all-white kitchens, the monochromatic look will likely always have a place in modern design. This breezy space by Meredith Marlow Interiors makes white the central force but infuses texture through soft veining on the backsplash and island, a silver range hood, crystal light fixtures, and blue accents. Green is a very trendy and popular color for kitchens and a great choice for a galley kitchen.

Draw your floor plan, select color palette, and choose cabinets - in any order. Remember that considering how to plan kitchen lighting should be done well in advance, alongside the planning the layout. A good size island can range from about 2m to 3m long and 1.1m to 1.4m wide (any wider tends to create wasted space in the centre). 'Effectively planning an ergonomic kitchen layout, and maximizing the space, can make time spent in the kitchen all the more enjoyable.

20 Modern Kitchen Ideas for a Beautiful, Streamlined Space

Though you may love a French door refrigerator or an oversized stovetop, it's important to consider how they will look in the context of your space. Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Pure Collected Living went with a larger range hood to help offset the size of her kitchen instead of keeping the pre-existing smaller hood. Though we love stick-on tile and removable wallpaper, Sara Toufali of Black and Blooms created a mini garden in her rental kitchen to bring some life into the space.

Real Customer Designs

The orange interiors of these pendant lights provide just the right amount of pop. A sleek wood island and simple cabinetry help ground the colorful, patterned space. With old-world influence, this kitchen includes beautiful white cabinets and an elegant range hood with intricate curves and trim.

Go With a Lively Color

Also, incorporating dividers and inserts can keep smaller items organized and prevent them from getting lost in the chaos of a busy kitchen. Under-cabinet lighting not only provides necessary illumination for tasks but also adds depth and drama to your kitchen design. Concealing appliances behind cabinetry or panels creates a seamless look characteristic of modern design. This integration not only looks great but also contributes to the overall efficiency of the space. Match the covering panel with the rest of your cabinets for a seamless look.

Concrete backsplash and countertops

For a room that gets so much traffic, it's essential to have a functional area that also lets your personality shine. From colorful cabinets to creative tile applications, there is something for every style and kitchen floor plan layout. If splashy colors aren't really what you're aiming for, but all-neutral isn't quite it, either, opt for a color that feels extra earthy.

Scandinavian style is all about minimalist decorations with neutral tones. Katie Hodges Design mastered the look in this kitchen with white walls and natural wood accents. By mixing wood grain textures, the dining table stands out from hardwood floors and barstools while maintaining the overall use of color. To achieve the Scandinavian modern look in your kitchen, start with white walls and natural floors—then choose one or two neutral accent colors (and keep bright colors to your décor). Woven textures, black metal hardware, and plenty of natural light are key to this style.

Modern farmhouse kitchens are about warmth and comfort, drawing inspiration from rustic settings and a simpler time. Common elements of this beloved design include natural materials like exposed wood beams and butcher-block countertops, which lend a hearty and grounded feel. Open shelving, shiplap, a neutral color palette, and traditional textile patterns make this a popular choice for many. Simple kitchen designs are rooted in the minimalist philosophy where less is more.

Marine blue cabinets topped with walnut countertops, a red cedar ceiling, and a pine subfloor give this tiny kitchen a handsome nautical vibe. In this Michigan lake house kitchen by designer Steve Somogyi of Chicago firm Steve + Filip Design, the crowd-pleasing cool blue island plays off the water hues located just outside the doors. Adding to the fun spirit, the designers paired the statement island with colorful, patterned encaustic tile for the backsplash. As the home's natural gathering spot, kitchens are inherently warm and inviting. The right shade of retro-inspired pink adds personality, a unique mood-boosting energy and a touch of coziness, and Salia adds that "it evokes feelings of whimsy and nostalgia that provide a warmth to the kitchen."

Glamorous Kitchen Finishes

Though Tyler Karu chose to cover a small portion of the wall in tile, the main star of this Saco, Maine, kitchen is the shiplap wall covering, which adds texture and coziness to the room. You can cut directly on them, they won't dull your knives as quickly as other surfaces, and they're easy to restore with mineral oil. A vintage mirror, paintings, and tchotchkes bring life and personality into this kitchen and make the space feel special. Gone are the days of meticulously matching all of the hardware in a room.

If a full kitchen reno isn't the cards, consider swapping out all your hardware. You'll be surprised how shiny brass pulls and a new faucet can make an older kitchen feel fresh and new. If you've got a stainless stove or fridge, adding in brass or gold pulls can feel sleek and modern.

"Incorporating pink into your kitchen can be a fun and stylish way to add personality to the space," Salia says. But, you don't have to go with all-pink-everything to implement the retro color trend. If you're itching to try the retro pink kitchen trend but are nervous about it being overpowering, interior designer Julie Arnold of J. Raine Design shares practical advice for implementing the color in a balanced way. "Adding neutrals in strategic places and pairing pink with complementing colors in lighting and flooring is a great way to create a well-balanced look," says Arnold.

Far from your run-of-the-mill pendant lamps, these oversized shades infuse a bit of whimsy into the space—without sacrificing the classic vibe. To play up the home's period features, Francesca Grace gave the interiors a cosmetic refresh with wallpaper, vintage items, light fixtures, and accessories. We love how fun the hanging fruit basket is—plus, it helps keep the countertops clear. Cameron Schwabenton gave this kitchen a surge of energy with fun vintage pieces (those chairs!) and brass accents. The glossy dark blue cabinets are actually from IKEA—she just customized them with brass hardware. Paneled appliances are a great way to combine form and function—you'll never have to worry about fingerprints smudging your stainless steel fridge again.

These floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors connect to the home's patio while providing picturesque vantage points. You won't have to go far to find something delicious to sip on with a built-in kitchen bar. Hold all your favorite beverages in one place with a mini fridge and built-in wine racks. Display your drinkware on floating shelves and always have a cutting board handy for slicing fresh citrus. Make the most of the busiest area in your house with these kitchen ideas.

Consider the other rooms that will be in eyesight when designing your kitchen. We love how the earthy green tones in the room behind this kitchen blend with the backsplash and dark cabinetry tones. Consider this the opportunity to create the farmhouse kitchen of your dreams. You might not typically think of your kitchen when you think of sconces, but trust us—it can work. This photo is case-in-point that adding a pair of sconces flanking a set of shelves can make a modern kitchen feel more intimate.

It gives you the ability to create your layout and take the guesswork out of how your finished kitchen will look. 'Real wood – the same applies to wood, attractive for its unique characteristics and warmth. 'Wood-look tiles – timber-effect plank-shaped porcelain tiles are also popular, not least because they introduce a sense of character and movement.

Here, Cedar & Oak adds subtle color by painting the underside of the island a soft sage green. Leather lends a handsome touch, while black and white details anchor the space. If you like that style but are craving a little more pizzazz, consider pairing white and pale wood tones with a silver backsplash that catches the light.

Ships like Allure of the Seas, which was due for amplification in 2020, do not have any enhancements scheduled. This 17-acre club will feature a private beach atmosphere with cabanas, beach bars, a food hall, and several pools. The beach is located to the west of the island’s pier, adjacent to CocoCay’s Thrill Waterpark. The western side of the island is still undeveloped aside from storage and housing for some crew members, so this is the first project to expand Perfect Day at CocoCay on that side of the island. Hideaway Beach, an adults-only area of Perfect Day at CocoCay, is currently under construction and set to open in late 2023.

Avoid really long or short cruises

Following the restart of the cruise industry in 2021, cruise fares were lower due to less demand, which continued into 2022. In 2023, though, don’t expect to find cruise fare prices as low as the previous two years. Lost luggage is one of the worst mishaps that can happen en route to a Royal Caribbean cruise. If you’re sailing on a short cruise–or are a light packer–consider bringing a carry-on bag to your cruise instead of checking in large suitcases at the airport. One of the most controversial changes coming to Royal Caribbean in 2023 is the cruise line’s new Main Dining Room menu. This new menu will feature a themed cuisine each night and will stop offering the same classic dishes previously offered each evening.

Royal Caribbean has also been voted "Best Cruise Line Overall" for 19 consecutive years in the Travel Weekly Readers' Choice Awards. Travelers with their sights on Europe can choose from 35 unique itineraries and a diverse set of ships, a matchup that makes for memories galore. Royal Caribbean has also been voted "Best Cruise Line Overall" for 18 consecutive years in the Travel Weekly Readers' Choice Awards.

If a new variant or Covid numbers raise alarm, there’s potential for the Covid protocols used in 2021 and 2022 to return on cruises in 2023. This is unlikely to occur, but remaining flexible in case of any changes is recommended. After completing the first two steps on the app, guests must visit their assembly station once onboard, where a crew member will verify you completed the briefing. Whether you miss a port due to a storm, a show gets canceled, or your favorite specialty restaurant is fully booked, it’s important to remain flexible.

The new, innovative ship will be joined by the amplified Mariner of the Seas, while Harmony of the Seas calls Miami its summer home for the first time. Instead, it can be expected that passengers will reserve the Royal Beach Club as a shore excursion for an additional fee. Like Icon of the Seas, Utopia of the Seas will be powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas), the first Oasis Class ship to do so. By using LNG power and the addition of further environmentally friendly applications onboard, Utopia of the Seas will reduce emissions and boost its energy efficiency.

Generally speaking, the lowest prices for cruises are available when new itineraries are released, such as these Europe 2023 sailings. Royal Caribbean released new 5-night cruises and 7- to 8-night sailings Caribbean sailings for summer 2023 that are available to book immediately. Five cruise ships will offer cruises from New York and Baltimore to destinations around the Caribbean, Bahamas, Canada and beyond. The problem with a short cruise is they go by so quickly and for someone new to cruising, it may not provide enough time on ship or on shore to really get a sense of it all. Moreover, on a per-night basis, the cost of a cruise tends to be cheaper the longer the sailing.

Costa Concordia disaster Wikipedia

cruise ship concordia

Costa Concordia was declared a "constructive total loss" by the cruise line's insurer, and her salvage was "one of the biggest maritime salvage operations". On 16 September 2013, the parbuckle salvage of the ship began, and by the early hours of 17 September, the ship was set upright on her underwater cradle. In July 2014, the ship was refloated using sponsons (flotation tanks) welded to her sides, and was towed 320 kilometres (200 mi) to her home port of Genoa for scrapping, which was completed in July 2017. Furthermore, it did not take long for water to enter the ship and put its crew and passengers in danger. Its captain, Francesco Schettino, was sentenced to sixteen years in prison in 2015 for charges like manslaughter, abandoning his ship, and being responsible for a maritime accident.

Most passengers escaped in lifeboats, but evacuation efforts were hampered by the angle of the tilting ship. The coastguard launched boats and helicopters to carry stranded passengers to safety. “I imagine it like a nail stuck to the wall that marks that date, as a before and after,” he said, recounting how he joined the rescue effort that night, helping pull ashore the dazed, injured and freezing passengers from lifeboats.

The Costa Concordia Disaster: How Human Error Made It Worse

The sponsons will be filled with seawater to act as a counterweight as the ship is lifted. Through the confusion, the captain somehow made it into a lifeboat before everyone else had made it off. A coast guard member angrily told him on the phone to “Get back on board, damn it! As the capsizing was so fast, no radio distress call was made but an EPIRB was hydrostatically released and automatically activated[10] when the vessel sank. "The risk of a knockdown was not understood," said TSB board member Jonathan Seymour.

However, their design from lido (pool) deck up to the top deck was enlarged and redesigned. The night of this tragic event happened in real time for me as the news broke here in the United States. I was working and publishing news items to our forums and the home page of Cruise Addicts.

Ten years have passed since the Costa Concordia cruise ship slammed into a reef and capsized off the Tuscan island of Giglio. GIGLIO, Italy — Ten years have passed since the Costa Concordia cruise ship slammed into a reef and capsized off the Tuscan island of Giglio. Almost immediately questions were raised concerning the conduct of Schettino and other crew officers. In July 2013 four crew members and Costa Crociere’s crisis coordinator pled guilty to various charges, including manslaughter. He was charged with manslaughter as well as causing the wreck and abandoning ship. During the 19-month trial, prosecutors claimed that he was an “idiot,” while Schettino countered that his actions had saved lives and that he was being scapegoated.

The Dutch salvage firm Smit brought a barge alongside the ship and divers installed external tanks to collect the diesel. More than 2,200 tonnes of fuel was eventually extracted, but the engineers were unable to remove all of it from some of the most inaccessible tanks. The ship's owners, Costa Cruises, said the captain had made an "unapproved, unauthorised" deviation in course, sailing too close to the island in order to show the ship to locals. He admitted making a navigational error, and told investigators he had "ordered the turn too late" as the ship sailed close to the island.

From labor shortages to environmental impacts, farmers are looking to AI to help revolutionize the agriculture industry. One California startup, Farm-ng, is tapping into the power of AI and robotics to perform a wide range of tasks, including seeding, weeding and harvesting. They fell into a hole that had been created when the ship rolled onto its right side. The story of a passenger who drowned after giving up his seat in a lifeboat features in a report released by prosecutors. Automatic tracking systems show the route of the Costa Concordia until it ran aground on 13 January. Data from 14 August 2011 show the ship followed a similar course close to the shoreline, according to Lloyd's List Intelligence.

But after eight years in the U.S. and then Italian court system, they lost their case. Concordia was designed by Ryszard Langer and owned by the West Island College Class Afloat program. In 2019, Paul González-Morgan interviewed Magnotta, in which the pianist spoke candidly about the tragedy that took the lives of 32 people. The ship's design is based on the design of Carnival's Conquest class fleet of ships.

It took a massive operation and $1.5 billion to refloat the Costa Concordia cruise ship. The giant craft will now be towed 200 miles across open ocean before being scrapped. Off the coast of Italy, Costa Concordia is one step closer to being towed to its final resting place. Ortelli was later on hand when, in September 2013, the 115,000-ton, 300-meter (1,000-foot) long cruise ship was righted vertical off its seabed graveyard in an extraordinary feat of engineering. Sadly, this incredibly poor narrative is not fiction but a real-life catastrophe constructed by a myriad of poor choices. We look back at the life and career of the longtime host of "Sunday Morning," and "one of the most enduring and most endearing" people in broadcasting. To protect the movement of wildlife impeded by busy roadways, a series of manmade overpasses and underpasses throughout the United States helps animals big and small safely get across the street, preventing collisions and saving lives. Correspondent Conor Knighton looks at how they have protected genetic diversity in animal populations while also greatly reducing roadkill. He also visits the site of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing near Los Angeles, which when complete will help cougars cross one of the busiest highways in the country.

Capt Schettino was arrested and later went on trial, charged with multiple counts of manslaughter and abandoning ship. At midnight dozens of passengers remained, many clinging to the exposed side of the ship. As it drifted, the ship then began to list in the opposite direction, possibly caused by water in the damaged hull rushing to the far side during the turn. As it made its way north-west along the Italian coastline, Captain Francesco Schettino ordered the ship to be steered close to the island of Giglio as a "salute". “It was a night that, in addition to being a tragedy, had a beautiful side because the response of the people was a spontaneous gesture that was appreciated around the world,” Ortelli said.

Submerged in the Mediterranean’s depths, the vessel no longer traverses the world’s waters but has embarked on an eternal, anchored existence. Her maiden voyage in July 2006 foreshadowed what was meant to be a long-standing Mediterranean staple. The Costa Concordia, a haven of lavishness with sumptuous offerings, including four swimming pools, a casino, and a colossal spa, set the gold standard for luxury cruising. The seven-day Mediterranean sojourns quickly became iconic, treating guests to the enchanting shores of Italy, France, and Spain. This level of grandeur was unparalleled until the night it all ended in calamity.

In addition, he noted the steering error by the helmsman, but a maritime expert testified that regardless of the mistake, the collision was unavoidable. In February 2015 Schettino was convicted on all charges and sentenced to more than 16 years in prison. He appealed the verdict, but it was upheld in May 2017; Schettino began serving his sentence shortly thereafter. An investigation focused on shortcomings in the procedures followed by Costa Concordia's crew and the actions of her captain, Francesco Schettino, who left the ship prematurely.
